PE: It's official... Toys R Us is coming

It appears Toys 'R' Us is coming to Charlottetown but Costco is not, despite rumours to the contrary.

[CHARLOTTETOWN, PE] — One of the worst retail secrets in Charlottetown has finally been confirmed — Toys R Us is coming.

Plazacorp Retail Properties Ltd. listed the major retailer on its floor plans Friday morning at its Buchanan Drive location.

Sobeys is currently the anchor tenant across from Canadian Tire but the major grocery retailer is moving down to the new mall project on Spencer Drive.

Once Sobeys moves out, Plazacorp will move in and split the building up into five separate stores with Toys R Us being the anchor tenant.

Toys R Us will occupy 34,634 square feet of space with the next largest store occupying just over 10,000 square feet.

Michael Zakuta, president of Plazacorp, didn't want to say much when reached by The Guardian.

He wouldn't say exactly when Toys R Us will open its doors.
